Latte 2: So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

2 years ago by David Grudl

The first version of Latte 2 was released in 2014 as part of the then revolutionary splitting of the framework into a collection of standalone libraries. Version 3 of Latte, representing a major evolutionary leap was released just over a year ago.

Latte 3 represents the absolute top of the line among templating systems for PHP. None of the competing libraries can match it technically.

Compared to the previous version, it is based on a completely new foundation. The code has been completely rewritten. Thus it is not possible to backport any modifications from Latte 3 to 2. Therefore, no further development is taking place in version 2. As of the end of 2023, support for it would be discontinued.

Although Latte 2 is ready for the upcoming PHP 8.3, we recommend upgrading to version 3. A detailed migration guide is available for you.
